About BAHNM : BAHNM is a not for profit organization
dedicated to the scientific research and promotion of holistic methods
of animal management, nutrition and medicine solely in the pursuit
of optimum welfare. It conducts non-invasive research in collaboration
with academic institutions, external technical advisors and practicing
holistic veterinarians. Both modern conventional and complementary
medicine are integrated as appropriate. The Association provides
consultancy to the veterinary profession on nutrition, and complementary
medical methodologies. It also provides a free helpdesk for members
of the public seeking advice and guidance on holistic management,
nutrition and medicine.
Certification
scheme for Holistic Products : The Association operates a national
certification scheme for commercial products including food, feed additives
and herbal products. All certified products must be compatible with the
evolved physiology of the species and as such must not contain any unsuitable
substances such as synthetic additives, by-products and GM products. The
scheme embraces organic standards and, in addition, holistic feeding stuffs
must provide a viable holistic nutritional profile. The scheme operates
within the framework of existing legislation such as the Medicines Act,
the Feeding Stuffs Regulations, and the Trades Descriptions Acts. It is
intended to provide the consumer with an informed choice concerning raw
materials used in commercial products.
